4 Fall Looks for Men from him…

It’s Fall and my turn once again to share some quick thoughts on men’s fashion - so… here are 4 Fall Looks for Men from him - or me (Case - married to Riane, fashion non-expert who actually looks at a lot of fashion throughout the day - surprisingly for a few years now ;-).

Slim Pants -

So this is one of my best friends - and one who is always lighting it up with what he’s got on… - notice: my jeans are skinnies and his are slim fit. - both get the job done ;-)

They are still a thing - it’s just the world we live in today. If you want to be current then you need some slim fitting pants. Skinnys are great if you can pull it off, and if not - a nice slim fit does the same trick without the extreme. You don’t have to be a trend setter to be fashionable - but you do actually have to wear what’s on trend.

Classic chucks with a cuff or tight roll is completely acceptable right now!

Nike, Adidas, Converse, Vans, etc… the classics are in. Basic white, blacks, and neutrals are a great way to go. Whether you like the high top chucks or want to push the edge a little more with a pair of Nike Air Force One’s or J1’s - the classic 80’s high top is still in and goes great with the above slim fit or skinny jeans - as well as a pair of chino’s or even some slim fit shorts if your calves can hang. Some of us look like we’ve been ridding a chicken, so I typically don’t go high tops with shorts (unless it’s right after leg day and it’s warm outside) - regardless - classic sneakers are back and worth having on deck in your closet: always fun to wear.

This is probably one of my favorite fall/winter looks - classic sneakers, layered top, skinny jeans - topped off with the scarf and beanie. It’s warm, stylish and just a quality look.

A great way to spice up the look is to throw on a knit sweater or stylish cardigan as the weather cools off for Fall. One of my favorite times of the year is when I get to start busting out my sweaters again and mixing them into the looks. The level of play goes up significantly just by adding a cool sweater to a tee-shirt and ripped denim look with my classic sneakers and all the sudden I’m ready for date night. Throw a beanie in the mix - I didn’t have to fix my hair and I’m still am on trend. The point is: sweaters/cardigans are great adds.

Neutral tones or something with color when you are wearing blacks, grays or whites… I frequent this burg beanie - but I wear a lot of those black, grays and whites…

Yes, you can do this. Beanies are just cool. - not on everyone. If you aren’t a hat guy - then this is not for you. But if you are; rock it. Scarfs are similar but I think more guys can pull off scarfs than they can beanies or other stylish hats. Again, the scarf can take a basic look and turn it up 5 notches with little to no effort. I have a few scarfs - all neutral tones and literally every time I wear one it’s noticed and noted (typically audibly) that I have exceeded the style expectations of those around me and once again am living in the world of “well yeah, he actually does know what’s current and what’s not.” - It’s just the world we play in. So - get a scarf. And then wear it.

Here’s the Thing with Fashion that I’ve said before and I will continue to say as long as I’m allowed to guest write on this blog… Being able to wear something is far more about confidence than anything else. Wear it because you wanted to, because you meant to. Have I been made fun of for some of or all of these things? YES! But I’ll say this: never has it been from someone I’ve thought “man, I want to look like that guy. - I want to be like that guy.” It’s literally never been from someone I would have asked for fashion, fitness, or fatherly advice from… Fashion is not about what other people think. I love fashion because I love the creativity of man it displays. I love that we can all have our own take on styles and trends. I love that I can like something so much and 10 years later look back and laugh with Riane about how absurd I may have looked because the trends have changed so much. In all honesty I love fashion because Riane loves fashion and it’s always been yet another arena we get to connect on together.

Once again - thanks for letting me share some thoughts and encourage your boys to get outside the norm and mix it up a bit.
