Easy DIY Bedroom Updates

Riane and I love our life together. We love being married, raising our babies, running a business together and all that entails day in and day out. Running your own business means that at the end of the day it’s all on you. So…we work a lot. We wake up working and we go to bed working - which means we have to find unique ways to connect with each other each day. We bought a 1967 remodel a few years ago and we have so much fun with our DIY projects as we continue to make our own home updates each year. Since our bedroom often doubles as our office and place to connect each night, we decide this last year to invest a little more time on this room. The white, chic feel is the consistent theme that runs through our house and so we continued that theme as we updated our bedroom.

White Storage Bed:

When we moved in we had a fairly large dark brown storage bed that was taking up more space than we had liked, so we found a smaller more space efficient storage bed in white to match the rest of the furniture we were placing in the room. We love open space and having storage space under our bed enables us to not need a dresser in the bedroom - giving that more open feel. We picked this one up at Overstock and then sold our old one on Craigs list to help offset the cost.

Cowhide Rug:

Apparently these babies are all the rage right now. Which I’m a fan of because we have enough pink in the room, the cowhide rug gives us a rugged balance that we are both pleased with when we walk in. Over the years Riane and I have found that our tastes have grown more and more alike in terms of style, color, etc… so it’s fun to have “met in the middle” so to speak not because we are compromising but because we both now really enjoy many of the same things.

White night stands:

I was against these Night Stands to begin with… But they’ve been money since we’ve placed them in our bedroom. Clean look, they match the rest of the furniture, they aren’t too big and they give us some great storage space for small personal items that make things easily accessible and keep the room from looking cluttered.

Stay tuned as there is more to come since we are in the middle of our back patio to living room conversion project as well as the rest of our bedroom updates!
