Nordstrom Beauty Blog

Beauty is something my mom has always been a huge advocate of, but not in a “what are you wearing” kind of sense, but “are you taking care of yourself “. I can still remember the way my moms lotion smelled after she had her shower and was tucking me in at night. She made a huge deal about how important it was for me to moisturize and take care of my skin. Every Christmas and Easter body lotion was snuck into my stocking and basket. My mom is 68 years old and her skin is amazing, and I know for a fact it’s because she has taken very good care of it!  Now Tanner and I are in that same routine. I make sure she stays stocked in lotion and she comes and steals mine when she runs out. My taste has definitely changed since high school, and now I like to get something that is more of a splurge and make it last. My trick is to put my “fancy” lotion by the bed and just use a little, because it smells divine, and then I use my everyday lotion right after the shower and keep it under my sink! Chanel body lotion will always make me feel a little bit closer to Paris and just a tad more refine. I shop for almost all of my beauty products at Nordstrom, I can find several of my items in one spot and I can’t resist trying something new when I am picking up a few basics!

When I am grabbing a coffee, and browsing all the cosmetics I want to try I can never pass up looking at new lipsticks.  My new Nordstrom lip find was perfect for fall! I love a red lip, and nothing looks better with a sweater than a pop of color on the lip! I could shop for lipsticks for hours, so when I find a good one I have to share. This YSL from Nordstrom has a matte finish that isn’t drying and the perfect amount of color. I want a color that isn’t over powering or harsh. This makes for the perfect addition to any makeup bag! I also want color that doesn’t run, and this can happen with bolder colors from time to time. No chances with this one! I have worn this lipstick for a full day of work and reapplied after lunch and coffee and had zero problems!

I pretty much am I walking example of the “if you give a mouse a cookie’ book. I may start in one part of Nordstrom cosmetics but give me 5 mins and I have an arm full! Anytime I am strolling through cosmetics I stop and admire the candles. Can you see that I have a problem, and yes I blame my mother!  I have literally never met a candle I didn’t like! Lighting a candle when I am getting ready for a date night or when I get a chance to sneak in a bath makes all the difference in my beauty and self care routine. A candle may not be something that is anti aging technically but in a way it really is for me. Lighting a candle is a reminder for me to slow down and enjoy the little things. They also make the best gifts during the holidays which are right around the corner! Make sure and go check out all Nordstrom has to offer in their beauty department, and say hi if you see me! I am sure you will see me wandering around as I am “just looking”, only to have 5 things tucked perfectly into the crook of my arm!
