Taking on Velvet with my 13 Year old
And just like that it is November, and you better believe I did not remember to set my clock back. Thank goodness for smart phones, right?! The season has snuck up on us once again! Nothing causes me stress like over thinking my holiday activities and not having what I need when I need it! Women can tend to do a few things or a few too many things… when it comes to events and holiday parties. I find that most women go out at the last minute and over spend on something they don’t love because of a time crunch. On the other hand I have known women to flat out avoid events because of the stress of finding something to wear, skipping out all together because even the idea of shopping causes anxiety. These are normal things but also avoidable feelings!;-) This year I am taking on velvet and I’m including my “almost” (like in a month) 13 year old with the look as well.
Velvet is such a fun holiday look!
The warm, rich fabric makes for some fabulous outfits. Tanner and I chose velvet dresses in deep blue tones for our upcoming Christmas and winter parties. I love it when she likes similar things that I do and even more when it is something we can get a lot of use out of. I love solid dresses because they can be worn several places without being to memorable. Prints can be harder to get away with on multiple occasions.
Don’t be shy!
I used to shy away from velvet in the past because I wasn’t sure I could “pull it off.” Turns out velvet is much easier to wear than I thought! I wore black buckle booties with this dress to create a more casual look, but I know it will be a cinch to dress up. As it gets cooler, I will grab my black tights and heels and head straight to any holiday party! The fun button detail on the side of the dress also acts like an accessory! I just need a simple earring and I’m ready! With the rich color and texture, plus the fancy button detail, this dress doesn't require much more. Women can tend to over accessorize, wearing too many pieces of jewelry - which can be distracting and take away the chic look of what they have on. Less really is more with this holiday number! Tanner also doesn't need to do much with her dress to make it any cuter! I know she will grab her go to booties or her adidas sneakers to throw on with her dress. Lucky for that gal. sneakers and dresses are a real thing.
Don’t Wait!
It’s never too early to be prepared for what is coming up these holidays! I find that getting a head start takes a ton of the pressure off! So don’t let November make you nervous or anxious, and let me encourage you to have the best holiday season. And with Thanksgiving right around the corner please know-I am so thankful for all of you!
